Raring2Go! Telford

Nigel Raring2go! Sheffield

Yvonne Young didn’t need much persuading that Raring2go! was an opportunity not to miss. For Yvonne – who runs the Telford Raring2go! – the beauty of the opportunity is that it provides her with the flexibility she needs in order to fully enjoy her three great children.

Yvonne worked for a well-known Airline as a long haul cabin crew member for 10 years, which she then left after her youngest (now eight) was born. She moved into a sales role and became the midlands and north sales manager for a well known drinks company before the breakdown of her marriage forced her to change tack:

“I needed to work in the local area so that I could be on hand for the children.”

Yvonne worked her way up the local business ladder, where she became business development manager for a local exhibition centre. However as expected with a high profile position, she was required to travel across the UK on several occasions during the working week as well as weekends.

“Quite often I had to stay overnight, which was not always compatible with having three busy children – and I started to resent it.”

Yvonne then spotted Raring2go! and became intrigued. She went along to one of their open days, and after meeting the team and finding out a lot more she became very interested in the thought of running her own business.

“I could see the earning potential, and thought it could be the ideal chance to get the work/ life balance right! I’ve given up the good salary, company car and even borrowed the money for the franchise fee, because I believe so much in the brand and the concept.”

Yvonne has always risen to a challenge, and in the year 2000 she achieved her private pilot’s licence as a millennium challenge set by friends.
“It was hard work but great fun and I believe life is enhanced by experiences and challenges, running Raring2go! Telford is my next challenge”. “I also want to continue to be the best role model I can to my children - as well as providing them with the strong financial support that they deserve. Raring2Go! allows me to do this.”

Yvonne has found Raring2Go a great way to meet new people, parents at school and other mums and dads who have taken the home working option. Before, because of her long working hours, she felt she was the only one juggling both sides of being a working parent.

“It’s brilliant,” says Yvonne. “For the first time I’m working to suit myself and have the spare time to meet friends for lunch or be at school for sports day without having to ask for a day off - I’m really happy. Being able to pick the children up from school is great too and also keeps me abreast of what’s going on locally. I pick up ideas for the magazine whilst chatting to other parents – making it really easy for me to introduce Raring2go! I’m killing two birds with one stone.”

She adds: “Yes you need to have a good head for business but with the excellent support and training provided by the Raring2Go franchise support team; everything you need to know is there for you. Because the magazines are only published four times a year it becomes easier to fit the work in around being a parent.”

For Yvonne it is indeed working well. Just a few weeks after signing up, she has put together her first magazine, which will be sent out next week to a circulation of 12,000.  The magazine already has over 36 advertisers on the books, and Yvonne is looking to double these figures within the next few months.
