Sally and Kirstens Story

Good friends, Sally Frost and Kirsten Williams came up with the concept for Raring2go!  Prior to having children they both enjoyed their jobs but returning to work left them feeling constantly under pressure and exhausted. “I hated it and didn’t feel I was being the best Mum I could be,” says Sally.

All that changed, however, when they came up with the idea for a local magazine and website that would provide mums like them with flexible hours and interesting stay-at-home work, plus local families with ideas for days out and information about activities and services aimed at children in their area.

The result was Raring2go! - a quarterly magazine aimed at the parents of children aged eleven and under which is distributed through school book bags and at playgroups, nurseries and libraries, as well as being online.

Newcomers to the business should earn around £3,000 profit per issue including income from the website.   “I now earn more per hour than I did in my office job says Sally and what’s more Kirsten and I only need to work a two-day week between us.”

Kirsten confirms that it’s an easy business for mums to get involved with: “You don’t need any qualifications and the pack and training explain everything you need to know. Because the magazines are only published four times a year it’s simple to fit the work in around being a full-time mum.”
